Mel?! Where have you been? What about your darling blog? The first love of your online beauty world?
No one has been asking these questions, kinda to my surprise :P. It did make me feel like no one was bothering to read my blog at all, but after a sneaky look a Google Analytics today, I saw that I still had visitors! Sure, my numbers have halved in the time I haven’t been posting, but people were still coming to my site! After encouragement from my lovely husband, I’ve decided to pick up the figurative pen and rejoin my online writing journey.
So, what’s been happening? Let’s work backwards with what happened most recently, since I can remember that best.
My bunny Ruby is sick with most like myxomatosis. There is no cure. After noticing the skin around Ruby’s eye last night looking red, we found out from the vet today that she most likely has Myxo and will die, or need to be put down very soon. Here’s hoping my other bunny Josie hasn’t got the same virus, but it is highly likely she has. They are currently separated, Ruby inside, Josie outside in the cage that I freshly mossie-proofed this afternoon – think mosquito netting and sad Mel with a staple gun, probably not the safest idea but quite therapeutic. If you don’t know what Myxo is, it is a man made virus created to kill the rabbit population. It is spread via. mosquitos/fleas/etc. and bodily fluid. The vaccine is currently not legal in Australia. It is very sad. Ruby has been my best friend and has helped me through some of the toughest times in my life, especially when I was suffering from poor mental health. My bunnies give me a reason to get up every morning, even if I have nothing on my schedule, they guarantee me a laugh every single day and are so darn cute. I am fully responsible for their well being. Something that brings me joy, but also results in them coming up in my dreams often. I just feel so much frustration that I could have prevented Ruby from getting sick by mossie proofing her cage outside and only keeping them inside for playtime and not outside. I just found it hard because my other bunny Josie is only truly happy outside. She only ever binkies outside and I can tell she is uncomfortable inside. I pray for their wellbeing and that I’ll get through this experience closer to God.
I did a triathlon!
A couple weeks ago, I completed the Girls Only Tri at Forster, hosted by Forster Tri Club. It was a wonderful experience to complete such an event. I am very proud of the training I did, as well as how I went in the race. It was only a little triathlon, 300m swim 12km ride 3km run, but still an effort I am proud of, coming in at 1hr02min! I’ve compiled a photo recap for your viewing pleasure.
I’m now a makeup artist! Youtube video with details and tips on youtube.com/aussiebeautytalk soon.
